Considering Google Ads

What are Google Ads?

Google Ads appear on the first page (and sometimes the second page) of Google search results for keywords determined by the advertiser. They had an “Ad” symbol next to them but they blend in well with the organic results.

It all works on a cost per click (CPC) basis. Every time that a Google user clicks on one of your ads to go to your website you will pay Google for that click. A lot of website owners believe that Google Ads do not work anymore because Google users know they are ads. This is not the case.

Google Ads provide fast Traffic

To create a Google Ads campaign you will need the keywords that you want to target and a landing page. The landing page has to meet Google’s quality standards but this is not too difficult to achieve.

Google approves all of the ad campaigns and it can take a day to gain approval. As soon as your ad is approved it will be live. You can start receiving targeted Google traffic soon afterwards. Other methods of obtaining Google traffic usually take a lot more time than this.

You are in Control of Ad Spend

You can have a Google Ad campaign running with as little as $5 a day. Just tell Google what your daily limit is and they will not exceed this. The minimum is $5 a day and you can increase this to $10 or more as your campaign progresses.

The CPC of some keywords will be a few cents. Other keywords can cost hundreds of dollars per click (lawyers etc). Again, you are in control here. Google will recommend that you place a bid of a certain amount per click. However, you can ignore this and go with a lower bid.

You do not have to be in the number one spot with your ad to get good results. It is more important that your ad appeals to Google users. Sometimes they will click on the ad further down the pecking order because it is more enticing than others above it.

Target Countries and Regions

One thing that you can do with Google Ads that you cannot do with organic search listings is to target specific regions. So if you wanted to target English speaking countries for example you can choose to show your ads here and nowhere else.

You can even choose a city, town or county to target in some countries like the United States. It is very easy to choose the regions you are interested in.

Test your Landing Pages

Usually there is no faster way to bring Google traffic to a landing page than running a Google Ads campaign. So you can set up campaigns to test various landing pages for conversions. Waiting for organic traffic can take a very long time, so use Google Ads for fast test results.
